I saw the first Northern Crescent in the yard on 19 June 24. I wonder if they visited in previous years, but I just missed them. That seems unlikely since in the week after the first sighting, I have seen them several times each day. Indeed, they seem to be the most common butterfly in the yard this summer - with the possible exception of the Western Tiger Swallowtail.
